September 11, 2010 Tailgate & A's Game
Jul 28, 2010 (11:07:41)
Oakland Firefighters! Local 55 is having a pre-game tailgate party at the Oakland Coliseum on Saturday, September 11th before the A’s-Red Sox Game.
The Oakland A's will honor local firefighters on September 11th at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum for the A's 6:05 p.m. game against the Boston Red Sox. Often referred to as Unofficial National Firefighter's Day or National Day of Service and Remembrance, September 11 is a day to salute local heroes and promote community involvement.
We have purchased a limited amount of tickets for the game which will be sold on a first come-first served basis to Local 55 members and their families. FIELD LEVEL Tickets are $45 for adults and $35 for kids under 13. This includes a game ticket, pre-game tailgate taco fiesta AND beverages! A portion of your ticket price will go to Oakland Firefighters Random Acts. Don’t miss out on what should be a fun event while honoring our brothers and sisters that have fallen in the line of duty. Tailgate begins at 3:30 P.M. in the private K Lot underneath the Bart overcrossing.
The A's will invite firefighters from around the Bay Area and Northern California to participate in a special on-field pre-game ceremony, which will include the ceremonial first pitch, unfurling of a large flag in centerfield, a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in the line of duty and local firefighters standing alongside A's players during the singing of the National Anthem. During the game, public service announcements will run on the A's video board to promote fire safety and prevention.
Please contact Jim Whitty via email to purchase tickets or ask questions regarding this event.

Attorney General
Jun 01, 2010 (09:40:39)
6/1/2010
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We’ve always been proud to be fire fighters. Even in tough times like these, when we are forced to do more with less – less resources, longer hours, budget cutbacks and greater risks, we work together and get the job done.
I am writing today to remind you about Alberto Torrico who is running for Attorney General and who has worked to help us achieve our goals during his entire professional career. Alberto has represented the Bay Area for the last five years and he has championed many issues that have been important to all California fire fighters. Our Local Union has stood side by side with Alberto when he was fighting for us. Now, I am writing to urge you to join me in supporting Alberto’s candidacy for Attorney General.
The California Professional Firefighters endorsed Alberto in his campaign for Attorney General because he has been a potent and steadfast ally ever since he was first elected to his local city council and throughout his political career. Alberto’s work has protected each and every one of us. Now he needs our help.
I strongly urge each member to donate to Alberto’s campaign. Individual contributions are just as important as our organizational contributions. Please consider contributing $10, $25 or $50 and joining the Torrico Team Today. In doing so you will be helping to ensure our voice and issues will be heard in Sacramento. You will be helping yourself.
With your assistance, we can make Alberto Torrico, the California Professional Firefighter’s choice, the next Attorney General of California.

John Torres
President
